And this our life, exempt from public haunt,
Finds tongues in trees, books in the running brooks,
Sermons in stones, and good in everything.

There is a pleasure in the pathless woods,
There is a rapture on the lonely shore,
There is society, where none intrudes,
By the deep sea, and music in its roar:
I love not man the less, but Nature more.
George Gordon, Lord Byron, Childe Harold’s Pilgrimage
Beautiful words, and in the most beautiful land in the world, Wales. I love it, and I love your photography, it gives so much more, thanks.

DeleteHard to single out any of them as fav.
ReplyDeleteGreat shots.
Thanks Indrani!!
DeleteRuby your posts of this country are awakening beautiful memories for me. I last went to Pistyll Rhaeadr with my parents when they were both alive (obviously!). I spent a great deal of my young life in North Wales but have made relatively few journeys there in recent years. Pictures like those you have posted are re-awakening my desire to return.
ReplyDeleteOh GB! after reading your post I longed to return to Scotland and was browsing through my pictures after 4 years. I longed to return to Wales and Scotland and Lake district. I truly must say I love these places more than anywhere else in the world. They have a very quaint, beautiful air that calms and soothes a soul.
DeleteI should have added that your quote from Keats also sent me scurrying for my volume of his poetry: one of my long-owned and many-time read books. I couldn't recall the poem it was from but have spent quite a while reading through some of my much loved poems that he wrote. That particular poem was penned 198 years ago and yet the words are just as fresh as if they were written yesterday.
ReplyDeleteThat is so true. I believe poets are the ones who live forever :)) I have not read poems extensively but among the ones that I know I think "Heard melodies are sweet but those unheard are sweeter" are the best ones ever penned.
DeleteBrilliant shots here ... Nature is beautiful :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks Amrit!

ReplyDeleteThanks Amandine! Your blog is lovely. I tried to post a comment but was unable to do so because of google+. Is there any way around this please?
