Wise thoughts!

I remember a time in a class on a cold winter morning a Japanese girl came with a surgical mask & I thought, “Wow, people would go to extremes NOT to get sick in Japan.” Afterwards on a break I approached her & asked in a cynical manner: Why the mask? Are you afraid of catching a cold? And then she said, “In Japan you use it when YOU are under the weather & you don’t want other people to get sick. It is the polite thing to do.” Wow! That's a lesson I will never forget.

And now here is my secret, a very simple secret; it is only with the heart that one can see rightly, what is essential is invisible to the eye.
– Antoine de Saint-Exupéry

Count your blessings. Once you realize how valuable you are and how much you have going for you, the smiles will return, the sun will break out, the music will play, and you will finally be able to move forward the life that God intended for you with grace, strength, courage, and confidence.

  7. I think that the first one is something that everyone should remember not so much for the fact that the Japanese are so considerate but for the fact that it demonstrates that every point is capable of being viewed from a different perspective.

  12. Really beautiful photos, Ruby! I love the second! As for the surgical masks in Japan, honestly speaking, I'm fed up with seeing them. I understand well what your classmate mentioned and I too think that it would be better to wear masks when you have a cold in order not to transmit the disease to others, however, I'd think many of us are too nervous.
