Taj Mahal, Agra

I am now on an official trip :((( and since this place is near Agra, thought I might as well make it a bit cheery and fun by visiting the most beloved TajMahal.  Hope you like the pictures below. Since it wasn't a planned trip, I didn't have a camera and these pictures were taken with a mobile phone.

My  laptop still has some issues and I have not been able to visit any blogs :((

The Uttar Pradesh government should really be more considerate of Indian tourists and provide appropriate footwear and facilitate easy and (guide/ nagar palik/ cheating dhaba)-hassle free environment for both Indian and foreign tourists. The trip was a nightmare other than the marvellous architecture.

  1. Super pictures, I saw a documentary last week about this building and the queen burried in it.

    Greetings,

  2. I have been to Agra twice and loved Taj Mahal. But more than that I loved Agra Fort.
And you are right, something should be done about this harassment thing by the sellers there. Not to mention the cleanliness problem that exists in and around the monuments.

  3. With the large population there would be challenges around the Taj Mahal. However, I would still like to see. Someone like me who lives in a sparsely populated area would suffer some culture shock.

  4. I have been to many places in India and except Mysore, I realized Indian government didn't care about any of it's heritage.
Not a surprise, government doesn't cares for India let alone it's heritage :(

  6. That is such an iconic structure. It's one of those places that it seems everybody should visit at least once in a lifetime, if possible.

  11. When I visited the Taj over 20 years ago I was amazed at the intricate inlaid stonework. The architectural beauty is only the beginning. It would be truly amazing two view it at sunrise or sunset, but I think it's closed to the public at these times.

  14. I visited the Taj about 15 years ago and I completely agree with what you say. Granted, the Taj is amazing but the facilities are absolutely appalling.

  26. Living as I do in a very sparsely populated area of Britain and in New Zealand where there are only 4.5 million people in a country the size of Britain I don't think there is any way that I would cope with India. Close friends have travelled around your country and love it and have been to the Taj twice they loved it so much.
